TECHINT-IV:  "Leading in a Changing Environment: Discover, Integrate and Fuse"   -  Thank you to our 2010 sponsors: American Systems, Battelle, General Dynamics, Riverside Research

The TECHINT IV theme reflected Director Clapper's vision of an evolving intelligence community that operates collaboratively whilst maintaining the highest standards of technical and scientific collection.  At the same time, it acknowledges that, as our ability to collect increases, we must continue to bring analytical judgment to bear if we are to effectively drive collection in these faster and faster decision cycles.  There's a saying that, "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there".  The modern challenge is that, "In today's world, if you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there at the speed of light".  It's evident that our ability to function effectively--and continue to meet the evolving short-and long-term needs of our civilian and military customers--remains a daunting challenge.

OXCART Tour                                                                                        ATIA was proud to sponsor and honor the  OXCART (A-12 and SR-71) program veterans in Washington, DC late September.   Their tour included:
a speaking engagement at the DIA with introductions by Lt. Gen. Burgess;  tour of the Capitol; meetings with political members; a public information panel and discussion organized by USGIF .  The OXCART program was a Lockheed A-12 reconnaisance aircraft built for the Central Intelligence Agency by Lockheed's famed Skunk Works, based on the designs of Clarence "Kelly" Johnson. The A-12 was produced from 1962 through 1964, and was in operation from 1963 until 1968. The single-seat design, which first flew in April 1962, was the precursor to both the twin-seat U.S. Air Force YF-12 Interceptor and the famous SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft. The final A-12 mission was flown in May 1968, and the program and aircraft retired in June of that year.

"Retired Space Assets".  The Rapid Fielding Office's Dr. Michael Obal will provided an updated briefing followed by questions and a discussion, including the potential that such a resource might represent for the future of MASINT, GEOINT and  the related areas of technical intelligence.
